Welcome to Our Pre School and Primary School
Welcome to the Pre School and Primary School of the British International School.
Whether you are a new or prospective parent, we hope you find our website informative
and that it answers any questions you may have. The information provided here can offer
only a broad and limited picture of the school. We hope you will visit us if you can.
We are always delighted to show visitors around and explain the rich and varied life
created here.
We are proud of our many achievements. Academic standards are high, and all students
are encouraged to strive for their best through planned learning opportunities provided
by excellent teachers. We ensure that students experience a broad curriculum in which
sport, music, art and drama feature prominently.
There are over 55 nationalities at BIS, and this diversity is celebrated during our
Global Citizens' Week. Similarities between cultures are discussed and presented in class.
We have a very active Student Council whose members meet regularly to discuss issues
within the school. They also help organise exciting events each term for all Pre School
and Primary School students, raising money for local and overseas charities through
activities such as the Autumn Festival and Winter Bazaar.
There are many House events throughout the year, including our Swimming Gala,
Cross-Country Running and Sports Days.
With the help of our House Captains, points earned by Cedar, Oak and Maple students
are added up each week and celebrated during our weekly assemblies.
A Yearbook is presented at the end of the year, recording these events for families
to enjoy. Students can also choose different clubs during the three terms.
We are strongly committed to partnerships between home and school. Students' learning
improves significantly when these links are effective. We are a listening school and
actively encourage parents to share their thoughts and concerns with us regularly.
We hold Parents' Evenings in October and March, and reports are provided in December
and June.
Parents are invited to assemblies, concerts and awards ceremonies in which their
children participate. We also welcome parents who would like to become members of
our active PTA.
The PTA organises various events throughout the year, including the Global Citizens'
Food Court.
If you choose BIS for your children, our teachers will do their very best to ensure
that they are happy, safe and well prepared for life in the 21st century. We look
forward to meeting you.
Welcome to Our Secondary School
It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the Secondary School of the British
International School.
BIS is proud to be an Accredited Member of the Council of British International Schools
(COBIS), an Accredited Member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and an
Accredited Member of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA).
We are also an International Baccalaureate World School and a centre for Cambridge
International Examinations.
We take particular pride in our academic standards and the excellence of our IGCSE
and IB results. In five of the last six years, our graduates achieved a 100% pass rate
in the full IB Diploma Programme. Our average points total has grown from 29 in 2010
to 35 in recent years and has remained well above the world average every year since
2012.
Our IGCSE results demonstrate a similar level of achievement, with students performing
well above international standards across our range of subjects. You are invited to
review our school statistics, which include details of both our IGCSE and IBDP
results since 2011.
Our team of teaching professionals works hard to build upon what is already a happy
and successful school. Our aim is not only to maintain our achievements but also to
improve them year after year.
With small class sizes and an excellent team of professional international educators,
we are confident that we will continue to succeed. We invite all prospective parents
to visit the school, see what we offer our students from approximately forty different
nationalities and discover what we can provide for their children.
You will find a campus where students are happy and inquisitive learners, where teachers
provide engaging, innovative, child-centred lessons, and where staff and students work
together to make education a rich and rewarding experience for everyone.
